When I turned 2 years old, my mother immigrated to the United States with me, my two older brothers, and the clothes on our backs. When I turned 13, I began helping my mom clean houses on the weekends, while going to high school during the week. When I turned 18, I got my first full-time job, became financially independent, and began earning my bachelor's degree for Computer Engineering from UCSD. It took me 23 years to become a software engineer, but it was worth it.
I genuinely enjoy software engineering. It's like solving a puzzle: you evaluate your givens, check for edge cases, and use logic to determine the validity of possible solutions. However, I mostly love creating beautiful user interfaces and experiences, which I fully believe is a form of art. Whether I make them with CSS or a pen and ink, I always get a huge sense of satisfaction when people enjoy my creations.
Outside of my family and career, my biggest goal is to care for dogs. I got my 1st dog my 3rd year of college, adopted a 2nd dog a year later, and rescued a stray right after graduating. My ambition is to rescue as many dogs as possible throughout my life. You can see some of my dogs here, or you can head over to my interactive resume to see all of my dogs as drawings!
